Common Questions

Things people often ask

Do I need a will if I do not own much property? +
A will is useful regardless of the size of your estate. It records your wishes clearly — who should receive your belongings, who looks after any dependants, and who you trust to administer your affairs. Without one, these decisions fall to the courts and can take considerably longer to resolve, which may be difficult for those you leave behind.
How long does the probate process take in Malaysia? +
Timelines vary depending on the complexity of the estate, the court's schedule, and whether there are any disputes among beneficiaries. A straightforward matter may conclude within several months, while more involved estates can take longer. We keep you informed throughout and handle correspondence on your behalf wherever possible.
Can I update my will after it has been drafted? +
Yes. A will can be amended at any time while you retain mental capacity. Changes are made either through a codicil — a formal addition — or by drafting an entirely new will. We recommend revisiting your will after significant life events such as marriage, the birth of a child, or a change in your assets.
What is estate planning, and is it only for the wealthy? +
Estate planning is simply the process of deciding in advance how your assets and responsibilities will be managed and distributed. It is not reserved for large estates — it can be as straightforward as ensuring your family home passes to your children without lengthy legal proceedings, or naming a guardian for a young child.
Are your fees fixed or variable? +
We provide clear fee estimates before any work begins. Will drafting starts from RM 195, estate planning counsel from RM 410, and probate support from RM 620. More complex matters may attract additional fees, which we explain in full before proceeding. There are no hidden charges.
Is my information kept confidential? +
Confidentiality is a fundamental part of our practice. All personal and family information you share with us is held in strict confidence and used solely to provide the legal assistance you request. We do not share client details with third parties without your express consent.
